In summation, I paint. I question: what heirarchies do I perpetuate, and which do I break down? I take historical paintings, aiming to remove them from the classist notions that they have been in bed with, exchanging and abusing cliche to return paintings into images to be investigated. ' My large, urgent paintings are not rendered, dabbed into being, rather they are violently flung forth and troubled onto unstretched, torn canvas.
